After years of searching for adequate care for their furry family members, Spencer Stubbins and Maddy Smith had given up on finding a true "home away from home" for their dogs. Each vacation was plagued with thoughts of our furry family members, how they were doing, and if we had made the right choice when choosing boarding arrangements for them. In 2017, we decided to open our own completely kennel-free doggy daycare and overnight service. Our community loved it, and as the saying goes... the rest was history.
After just a few months, PawMates Pet Care had taken off.
Word of our "puppy paradise" spread far and wide; owners would travel hours to board their dogs at PawMates; from Toronto, Mount Forest, St. Catharines, and beyond. We have even had a few international guests! In 2019, PawMates Pet Care was featured in a local newspaper. Shortly after, we attended our first of many Canine First Aid training courses.
With years of experience under their belts, both Spencer and Maddy are well equipped to help your dog become the best family member they can be! While we do not accept any aggressive dogs, we strive to provide a safe space for shy, anxious dogs to come out of their shell. Do you want your dog to learn valuable social skills, while burning excess energy? Our daycare is for you! With a limited number of dogs booked each day, we can ensure that each and every guest at PawMates receives the exercise and attention they truly deserve. Your furbaby is sure to return home exhausted but happy!
At PawMates, your dog will be welcomed into our home and treated as one of our own. Our four-legged houseguests are encouraged to sleep wherever they feel most comfortable. They will enjoy the same day-to-day experiences as our daycare dogs, such as group hikes, supervised playtime, brain games for mental stimulation, and more.
There's no reason your dog should stay home alone all day! We offer pick-up and drop-off in the PawMates Puppy Taxi, so if you can't get your dog to us, we'll come to you! For a small fee, the Puppy Taxi will provide a ride for local clients. Every pooch deserves a day of play with their friends! Please get in touch with us for more details.
When you drop your dog off at PawMates, they will enjoy all the same luxuries that our own furbabies do.
Fresh blankets and linens will be provided for all guests, but feel free to pack your own, in order to maximize your dog's comfort during their stay! Having a small taste of home (or in this case, a "smell" of home) can often help first time guests, or nervous dogs, feel more comfortable with us.
Our home is also equipped with plenty of dog-friendly items for your pooch to enjoy. Personal toys, treats, bowls, and other belongings are always welcomed, and we will do our absolute best to ensure everything is returned to you at the end of your dog's stay!
When your fur baby is here, their needs are top priority, and we are happy to help with almost anything, at no additional charge.
You don't want to worry about your furbaby while you're trying to relax on vacation! We will happily send daily updates of your dog having a blast during their stay at PawMates, including photos and videos of your pup playing with their friends!
We are also happy to administer any meal additives and/or medications for your dog, free of charge. Please be sure to pack their regular food, as sudden dietary changes often result in stomach upset. Raw meat is also welcome, at no additional charge.
We strive to provide a true "home away from home" for your dogs, and we guarantee nothing but the best of care for your precious pooch!
Our furry guests are welcome to sleep wherever they wish, and we have created many areas throughout our home for your dogs to enjoy.
You are welcome to pack your own treats, but please know that we will provide your pooch with all-natural snacks throughout the day. Please advise us if your dog has any allergies or sensitivities, so we can treat them accordingly.
Any guest that is having trouble settling in will be provided a dog-friendly, all natural peanut butter kong before bed, on the "dog"house! We also prefer that guests are sent with reusable containers for their food, as opposed to single-use bags. We will happily wash and return any environmentally-friendly items at the end of your dog's stay.
